Jennifer Bonessi, the Bodyworker

I have been a licensed massage therapist for 15 years, a personal trainer, retired, for 13 and a yoga teacher for 10.

The impact of therapeutic touch and body awareness has been so powerful in my own life that I recently obtained my Massage Therapy Instructor license to move toward teaching my own clients how to care for themselves and others responsibly and respectfully in this way.

Today, instead of trying to explain all that, I just call myself a bodyworker.

Massage Therapy

I am a graduate of Texas Healing Arts Institute’s 300-hour certification program and Lauterstein-Conway Massage School’s 250-hour Advanced Clinical Training, both located in Austin, Texas. Recently, I obtained my Massage Therapy Instructor license, so I can teach.

In an effort to provide bodywork that is both both relaxing and effective, my bodywork practice incorporates several massage modalities including Swedish, Deep Tissue/Deep Massage, Trigger Point, assisted stretching, Thai/Shiatsu and acupressure techniques, lymphatic drainage and more based on the individual client’s needs.

Clients will leave each session with better understanding, awareness and compassion for their bodies and recommendations for stretches and lifestyle changes to help maintain our progress between visits.

You can view my full bodywork resume here.

For reference, my massage license number is MT103671. I am insured by ABMP.

Functional Yoga

I am also a Registered Yoga Teacher, a graduate of Yoga Yoga’s Hatha Flow program in 2013. (I was also at one time an ACE Fitness Certified Personal Trainer, which is really where my yoga journey began). I’ve taught at several locations in Austin, but most passionately for the YMCA - I thoroughly enjoyed the mixed demographic and teaching to different levels of fitness and experience.

My greatest interest in yoga goes beyond how it transforms the body, though for many of my clients that is a game changer.

For me, what yoga does for my mind and by extension my spirit, has been most impactful on how I live in and experience my body.

As a result, the yoga practice and exercises I offer clients either as a part of a bodywork session or private class is really purposeful. Functional. In other words, the yoga you’ll do with me is not about standing on your head just to stand on your head because it’s a cool thing to do. Working with me, you will learn asanas to meet the goals you have for your body mind and spirit.

I am, with intention, not teaching publicly.

Bodywork Classes

I started offering couples classes as a novelty Valentine’s Day special but quickly recognized the value (for them) and satisfaction (for me) of helping couples understand and hone their ability to provide therapeutic touch to one another.

As a momma of six, the parent-child classes were a natural evolution of my experience working with couples and of my own “mom lyfe.”

Each class is private, so it can be tailored to the pairs participating in it - couples or families. So come as you are! We will set goals at the beginning of the session and adjust it as needed.

My Friends Call Me Jenny.

I used to joke with a high school girlfriend of mine that I always know when she’s sending me a package because it’s addressed to “Jenny.” No one calls me Jenny anymore. It’s Jen and Jennifer. Very serious. But when I started thinking about you - the people, my people - who might come to me for bodywork, massage or yoga, Jenny felt more right.

To do the kind of work I hope to do with you, your partner and your children, it’s better to be on “Jenny terms”.

And I’m here for it.
